Logan City Council has undertaken its first stormwater disconnection project, focusing on the highly urbanised and industrialised area within Slacks Creek Catchment. The first treatment system was installed in 2013 between Moss Street and Compton Road and treats 4ha of industrial land runoff by treating it through a riparian ecosystem which mimics nature.
The technology mimics a natural ecosystem by:
- infiltrating stormwater;
- reducing velocities of flow;
- providing shade to the creek;
- improving habitat; and
- improving water quality.
